WooCommerce Blocks 5.9.0 Release Notes

In this latest version you won’t notice as much since improvements were made on the backend. Is does include a second iteration of the Checkout Block, a new API allowing extensions to modify the available payment methods during checkout and a bug fix with the Product Search Block.

WooCommerce 5.7 will be released on September 21, 2021

There’s been a monthly cycle that Woo has been sticking with on releases, namely the second Tuesday of each month. This time around it has been pushed to one week later, but no worries, this is not a permanent change.

FSE Program Exploration: Help with the future of Block Theme Switching

With the arrival of block themes in the WordPress ecosystem, and what possibilities are around the corner, an exploration of what can be done across different block themes is a critical piece of the puzzle. A new exploration for the long-term will begin to collect useful insights that core will learn to assist them in how the design for this experience will be. They are seeking to explore what is currently possible and are looking to hear from you on what you would like to see. Updated Guidelines for In-Person WordCamps

On another note, through a lot of discussion guidelines have been updated and the community team is now accepting applications for in-person WordCamps. I have heard a lot of pros and cons via Twitter and elsewhere, but we will see how this plays out. As one suggestion was made, it still feels that smaller, localized meetups are the much better starting point at this time. Personally, it will be awhile before I’m ready to go to a WordCamp as I recall how many times I returned with the dreaded “crud”.
