WooCommerce Core

WooCommerce 5.9 Release

With over 600 commits in core, admin and blocks, this minor release brings us WooCommerce Blocks 6.1 and WooCommerce Admin 2.8. You will also find a Marketplace page redesign and empty billing email via REST API . And lastly, fixes include unpaid ordering cancellation scheduling, variable product price caching and tax location when adding products via the admin.

Available Extensibility Interfaces for the Cart and Checkout Blocks

With the Cart and Checkout blocks remaining in early access, the expectation of some existing Woo Extensions that integrate with the checkflow may not work with those blocks. Although there is a list kept up-to-date on supported extensions, the post is offering third-pary developers help to integrate their products with the Cart and Checkout block.

The post starts with looking at Woo's main architecture and moves into extensibility on the front-end side, adding custom content to those two blocks, modifying existing fields, exposing your data in the store API and payment gateways. In addition PHP action and filter hooks are also listed to cover the various aspects of the checkout behavior on the server.

Introducing a 320 Character Limit to Inbox Notes

They are noting a change that is slated for the WooCommerce Admin 3.0 and Woo 6.1 with the goal of introducing a 320 character limit to the text content of the Inbox notes. These notes, if exceeding the limit, will be appended with an ellipsis.

Updates to wc-settings

Be aware that any script that has a dependency on the wc-settings will be no longer be loaded in the header, but in the footer. The post gives more details around this and explains what the solution is that is being introduced.
