How to Restrict WooCommerce Coupons by Role or Geographical Location

The ability to control coupons comes up often. You client may want to set up coupons based on new customers vs. existing customers, or other roles. Or optionally, restrict coupons to a geographical areas based on several factors that would benefit the customer.

The default options for WooCommerce give you some pretty good flexibility, but often you need a little more. With the WooCommerce Coupon Restrictions extension you are able to do just that.

This is one of those extensions that gives you two simple options and does it well. If you create a new coupon and click on the Usage restriction tab, you have these added options:

Coupon Restrictions for Roles

There are times when you would prefer to reward existing customers, new customers or other roles you might have set up in your WooCommerce store. This is a straightforward and great way to control your coupon offers between current customers and new customers.

It will check to make sure the visitor is logged in. If they aren’t, it will run a verification before checkout after the email address has been entered to make sure they are able to use the coupon.

The other option you have is based it on either the shipping or billing location.  As far as specific countries, of course you will choose from only countries you are currently selling to. If you want to get more specific, you can choose states or list zip codes for more localized targeting.

This is perfect for country-specific holidays or if there are changes in a location’s currency. It also  enables  help you to give extra discounts for shipping charges to certain countries.
